This calculator ranks every Path of Exile skill gem by the chaos it earns per hour of experience: what the leveled or corrupted gem sells for on trade against what the raw gem costs, divided by the time the leveling takes at your XP rate. Vaal Orb and double-corrupt outcomes are weighted by their real odds, so the number shown is expected value rather than a jackpot.
Sort by profit per hour and the best gem in the current league is at the top. The ranking follows prices, so it moves through the league: exceptional supports like Empower and Enlighten pay best while they are scarce. The demand color coding shows how many players actually run each gem, which is what makes a listing sell.
The sell price minus the raw gem's cost, divided by the hours of experience the level-up needs at your XP rate. Both the XP per hour and the number of gems you level side by side are inputs you can set, since leveling several off-hand at once changes the answer more than the gem choice does.
Sometimes. A Vaal Orb has four outcomes, and each is weighted by its real chance against its own sell price, so the corruption strategies show expected value rather than the best case. Doryani's Institute double corrupts are ranked the same way, and the method filter lets you compare plain leveling against both.
